Seeing snow at the beach is such an unexpected and unique sight. It was so astonishing to discover all these photos that I had completely forgotten until this day. Somehow, the photos have since turned into digital dust. Isn’t it bemusing that we can forget something like this?
Unexpectedly, I stumbled upon this surreal sight. This stunning scenery was a lovely change after living all those years with endless summers in the South. It’s so surprising to experience that wonderfully intriguing contrast – sand and snow, ocean and ice. There is a captivating sense of wonder.
For the listener, who listens in the snow,
Wallace Stevens
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.
To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake,
it is necessary to stand out in the cold.
It sifts from leaden sieves,
Emily Dickinson – ‘It sifts from leaden sieves
It powders all the wood,
It fills with alabaster wool
The wrinkles of the road.
It makes an even face
Of mountain and of plain, —
Unbroken forehead from the east
Unto the east again.
After all, isn’t this a marvelous sight?
