First Impressions
The first thing that I notice at Joshua Tree National Park, besides the captivating beauty of nature, is the pace of time.
This is the sense of the desert hills, that there is room enough and time enough.

Everything slows down. The impact of that stunning nature and Joshua trees is immediate. You breathe differently, you feel differently, and just never want to leave. Remoteness from the rest of the world makes you very present in this one. Colors are different, vegetation is so unique and the views go forever.
Even out of Joshua Trees wherever you are there is a feeling of sanctity. At the park, there is an ease to do whatever your heart desires – hike, climb on boulders, drive around, walk around, dream around. Paint, photograph, write poems and books about.
But most of all, it gives you a sense of inner peace and calm.
Joshua trees typically grow more than 20 feet tall (6 meters). They may take 60 years to come to maturity, and can live more than 500 years.
Joshua Tree National Park is a vast protected area in southern California. It’s characterized by rugged rock formations and stark desert landscapes.
